Wed ramblings

Well  I did get quite abit done at the kitchen today for market tomorrow. My buttercrum topped blueberry muffins.  These are the most requested muffin at market and yepper they are yummo! A touch of lemon zest and some fresh squeezed lemon juice!
The buttercrumb topping is just butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, bread flour.
I do put quite a bit of fresh blueberries in each muffin
They look just awesome too!I sauteed some fresh red onioin and  a couple of white vidalia onions to carmellizing, made a big batch of foccaci bread and topped them with the onions, some dried chopped rosemary and a sprinkling of sea salt plus grated parmesean cheese.  These smelled super yummo in the oven, it is funny whenever you add fresh or even dried herba rhe smell is overwhelming.
It looks pretty too~  I just rolled them out to an oval shape and put them on a sheet of wax paper and in a clear bag.
The edges are a bit crispy and would be perfect with a pasta dish or even a salad.
Here is one of my struesle filled babka cakes, since it is so hot outside I didnt make a glaze for them just some powdered sugar ontop and in a bag.  These are very fragrant too!  Babka is just about my favo dough to make~ but the foccacia is good and easy to make too.
We are suppossed to get storms tonight possilbly severe too! gee we cant seem to have a week of no rain or storms this summer!! crazy weather pattern thsese days but it looks all clear for tomorrow and sat~YEAH good market weather!! YEE HAW!!  I bettter get to figurin what we are gonna have for supper and then it is out to do chores.
Hope yall have a great night!

Back to it tues!!

My little Mr. Boopie Woopie Boo and a squeaky toy, he is such a mommys boy I love it!
Well hubby and I took the day off yesterday and just played around at home with the boys.   It was heavenly!! I havent had a day like that in quite awhile so it was good and now i feel refreshed and reenergized to get back to work at the kitchen today!!  Lots of things to make to make up for my slackin day yesterday LOL
My mom and I picked some black raspberrries that were ripe and put them in the freezer til we have enough to make a big batch of jam.   I just love these little hollyhocks they are so cute and fit nice along the garden fence.  I did plant another flat of them so we will have even more next year.
I had several of these pretty stargazer lilies planted along fence but this is the only one that came up this year.  They smell divine!
Pics of our black rasp bushes, we keep lettting them spread out so we have more and this year they are nice and big and tasty!  I might even have enough to also make a batch for some syrup or ice cream topping.
Just a few celery bunches, and also some green table onions.
We are making pierogies today and some spinach n cheeses stuffed ravioli and I want to make some blueberry orange bread since I got some fresh blueberries, strawberry coffee cakes and mabye some orange cream cookies.  I been putting together and testing a recipe for these cookies and cant wait to try them out.  They will be a orange flavored butter cookie with vanilla buttercream filling, maybe a root beer one would be next.  A root beer float cookie sounds too yummy!!
So I am off to pick up my mom and run to the store to get some ingredients then it is off to work for me!
Hope yall have a great tues and are enjoying this beautiful season!!   I already have my camera in the truck so I dont forget to take it to the kitchen today. last week i forgot it almost everyday.

Hot pepper jelly

Well I just got back home from the kitchen and am taking a bit of a break before goin outside to plant some things.   My mom went with me this am and we made a couple of batches of our hot pepper jelly, and hot hot pepper jelly!!  I forgot to take my camera with so no pics right now for ya!! SORRY!!  We also made up 12 dozen tater-n-cheese stuffed pierogi for market and orders for this week.   This time I did saute the onions first in butter and added a bit of seasonings and used yukon gold and reg ol baking taters, which is a nice combo.  Sharp cheddar, mozzarella, parmesean and some fresh guyere cheeses are all awesome together!!  I will note we decided to only take the pasta machine up to number 4 as they were just too thin on 5 and way too thick on 3 maybe it depends on the humidity in the air with this particular dough but it was vey thin today.   I also make mixes up for the week for some muffins and carrot cakes and some coffee cakes.  WHEW too I am a bit on the tired side and really would like to go in the 5th wheel with my boys and take a nap!!  Actually NO naps round here this week it is gonna be a busy one as I start my sunday market this week.  Everyother sunday that is but still 3 markets this week.  FSAM fulton street arrist market and I will be bringing some baked goods and a few of my altered signs too.  I cant wait they started today!!
It is a bit on the chilly side out, I had a tshirt and one of hubbys flannel shirts on too and was comfy.   Thank goodness we didnt get the storms last nigth that were predited it sounded bad!!  The sun is 1/2 out and 1/2 behind some clouds so not too hot at least!  The boys are all on the couch with mommy! LOVE our nice big ol couch for them to be up on here next to me!!  I dont spend enough time cuddling with my boys lately so need to change that !~!~ and soon~~!   I so wish I could take them everrywhere with me~~
Market yestetrday was awesome!! Thanks everyone that came out with the weather being so crummy it was a busy day!!   Hot at 4 in the am then some rain early  then the fog came in quick and brought really cool air and a breeze then sunny and hot and humid in afternooon!!  We sold out of pierogi by 9am and also ravioli were gone just as quick.  I am still making asparagus cheese and froze about 30 pounds plus pureed for ravioli this summer and winter.  Next i am gonna try  spinach and cheese.  I bought some awesome lookin spinach from my friends at VISSER FARM so will start using that up~~  Ok well hubbyo just came in and announced he wants to get to the store soon so I better get my butt ready! NO nap right now, maybe on the way to the store!! LOL
HAVE A BLESSED SUNDAY YALL!!
See u tomorrow!~
with pics too! LOL

Making Pierogis 101

Here are the chunks of pierogi dough.  I rolled a few of the first ones by hand but thought it would be much more consistent in thickness to just roll it thru the pasta maker.  YIPPEE! this worked perfect, FYI if yall are gonna do this I went to the 5th setting, the 4th was a bit too thick and the 6th was way too thin!!  5 is perfect!! LOL my favo number too!!  Peeled taters and steamed them when done I added some butter and salt,  pepper, and a touch of some seasoning plus shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
I first cut them out using a 3 in biscuit cutter but then went to the next larger one and that was alot better.
AND a handy little tip here!!!I used my small cookie scooper and Perfect amount of filling, then lightly patted the mound dowm a bit.
After folding it in 1/2 I wet my fingertips with water to make the dough stick to seal the ends.  One thing to note you really have to go around that edge a couple of times pinching it tightly for a good seal.  I cooked a few up to try them out.  Just added freshly grated parmesean cheese and some fresh pepper.  GOSH GOOODNESS they are yummy!!
This is the sauerkraut cooked with some sauteed onions, salt, pepper and lawrys seasoning.  The scooper didnt work too good with these but I did just use 2 forks and placed the kraut in the middle.
I did try to make them all uniform but some did look better and bigger but for the most part they will be fine!! That is the proof of MADE FROM SCRATCH!!  LOLThese are gonna be my featured item this week at markets!~
I am kind of wanting to try an asparagus and tater filling??? then maybe some artichoke and cheese (thanks to Maureen's idea~~)  Those maybe next week and they will be called "MO's  Special" LOL
Share more tomorrow with yall!~!
