Pickeled radish, watermelon lime ice and more

HEY YALL!!  What a baking week!!  and a hot one outside too!! We have been in the 90s for 2 days now and humid as all!!  GOSH what a difference from last week but that is ok tomorrow is gonna drop again in the 70s and be perfect!! except there is a 60% chance of thunderstorms which may or may not even happen!!  We will see in the am, I have Allegan market unless it is stormin I am plannin on goin.
WE ARE MAKING FRUIT ICE NOW!! well similar to sorbet!!  The first batch was a trial and is goin to markets this week!! Watermelon lime!! what a combo!  So far all the taste testers love it including me!!  I used a seedless sugar sweet baby watermelon and squeezed fresh lime juice then zested 2 limes to make 2 9x13 pans.  This was super simple and used very minimal sugar like only 1 cup maybe for the whole batch which since the watermelon was so sweet I cut back to between 1/2 and 1 cup.  U make a simple syrup and puree the fruit in a processor then mix the two to blend good and pour into shallow pans to freeze, you do have to stir it the first few hours on and off and break up the chunks but after that I left it alone overnight in the freezer.  So refreshing!! We already have about 6 more different flavor combos to try out one being blackberry cardamom! this was Susan's idea, last summer I took her some black berries from our farm and she made a syrup with cardamom and oh my gosh it intensifies the flavor of the fruit so much!!  I was gonna try a lavender lemon one and mabye a strawberry basil or peach basil one too!!  so many cool things to make.  We are on a roll with goin forward to making some ice cream cakes and frozen deserts I cant wait to start offering them at markets!!

This is my pickeled radishes!!  I made a brine like for my pickeled asparagus then sliced some fresh red radishes from market and let them sit in it for a couple of days.  It is really good, I had them on my turkey sandwich today.

A poor pic of my watermelon lime ice

I zested these limes then squeezed the juice for the ice with them.

A few pans of my lemon tea cakes, they just need to be dipped in lemon glaze.

And I made 4 batches of my honey cinnamon graham crackers.   Instead of using a fork to poke holes in the grahams I used a round star tip.  We have great tool to use now that cuts them into squares so I can get them pretty much the same size now!! YEAH!! WOOPIE!!

Also I made some strawberry banana bread, my glazed pistachio bread, choc chip cookies, my rustic roasted pepper n mozzarella tarts, cranberry pecan lemon cookies, peanut butter whooopie pie cookies,  cheddar pepper bread, shortbread flower cookies, those little cream filled shortbread cookielets in strawberry and chocolate ganache' and some of my taco seasoning packages also.   I think that might be it for now.    I do have everything ready to bake some upside down caramel apple cakes and also some cherry almond crisp.  Those will be baked tomorrow after market.
Allegan Market thursday, Saugatuck Green Market friday, and South Haven Market on saturday!!  Full market week this week~  YEAH!!
So hope yall have a great night! Will be back soon to share more baking!!

holiday cookies

Let the holiday cookie baking begin!!! My favorite holiday thing to make!! I should have been employed by Keebler!! LOL
So I whipped up some cookies for markets and also made up some gifty boxes and tins up for my shows this weeekend.

My cranberry pecan with lemon cream filling.

No gingerbread men here!!   I scooped out the dough and smoooshed down a tiny bit then baked them out  but  they needed that little "farmgirl bling" so I piped a bit of white icing on each then topped them off with a cinnamon candy.  They smell absolutely divine!!   Winter Gingerbread Cookies!!

 dressed for the holiday!!
Some chocolate cinnamon rounds sprinlked heavily with powdered sugar.

I love spritz cookies and did up some almond butter ones complete with the "bling" some asst color nonpariels.

I took some plain ol kraft paper boxes and added some colorful holiday scrapbook papers cut with decor edge scissors and stuffed them with cookies, tied with some pretty ribbons and a cute stamped out tag.  Perfect for gift giving.

White chocolate peppermint fudge!

Love white choc with peppermints.

all sliced up and ready for markets

I had some of these little boxes I used for cake truffles and made up a few fudge and peanut butter balls for gifts.

These are known as buckeyes and are one of hubby's favo!!  Creamy smooth peanut butter, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla dipped in melted milk and semi-sweet chocolate.  YUMMY!

Packaged some up in bags of 4 for markets

Love the round tags looks like this one I cut off a bit!!  LOL OPPPS!!

So today will be full of baking also, I was suppossed to be in Kazoo for Bronson Winter Market this am but had major truck troubles so am not able to go!! DARNIT!!
So will head over to the kitchen and bake!!  perfect day!!  Lots to get done for this weekend, mexican hot cocoa cookies, candycane cookies, snowman cut outs, oatmeal rasin, and maybe some shortbread trees on the list so far since I will have all day to bake now.

Our holiday open house

I am back from our holiday open house this weekend.  Next year we have decided to do only friday and sat no sunday!! YIPPEE!! sunday was 10-3 and it was very very quiet.  Overall we did about 1/2 of what we did last year which is ok since we had a very good busy show last year and things are different this year as we all are aware of!  So here are some pics of our offerings.  My friend Laura does all the hypertufa leaves and stones and they all look amazing!!

I did have about 15 altered books I got done and also some altered frames.
Here is her waterfall and I just love this one!!

We offer some grubby candles in all sizes and some very cool candle holders.

grubby votives that smell amazing!

My mom and brother and I made up some fresh pine centerpieces with and without candles.

And my friend Bonnie had a few antiquey pieces like this old chair.

homemade rugs

all natural soaps and lotions

some fixins and essential oils

more of my signs

lots of candles, pip berries and refill bulbs

one of my bake shoppe tables
A snowman in a basket filled with twigs, berries, and pods and some cones.

I have to say as much fun as it is I am so so SO so glad to be back home with my guys!!  It was great today I packed up all the fall decorations around, started  decorating outside for xmas.  I put some pine branches around the farmstand, filled some window boxes with pines, cones and some red ornaments and made a couple of pine swags to hang around.  It really was almost 50 outside today and a perfect day for it now all i have yet is to put lights around and then can sit back and enjoy the white shimmering lights.   As much as I love colored c9 lights I absolutely love all white!!  I have lots of ideas of some new things I would like to make next year for our show and am for NOTHING doing a show the weekend before ours!!  LOL i say that now!!
So this week is gonna be a bit crazy!!!  Thursday I am at Allegan market in the am with Dave from Young Earth Farm, South Haven in the afternoon and then off to Douglas to Everyday People Cafe to do their evening open house of artists!! Friday is Bronson Market then Saturday is Saugatuck Green Market I am in and then Sunday is the artists show at Saugatuck Brewery!!  So BUSY week ahead of me so it was nice to slack around a bit today and not do alot!!  even though I have to do double time tomorrow and wed!!
Well have a great week I will try to get back on here and take pics of the cookies for my cookie boxes I will be makin this week!!
