I LOVE LOVE LOVE this bluish purple lobelia plant!! This has to be one of my favo colors of flowers!!

One of the gardens that goes along our front bean garden. A dear friend gave me this old bike and I found the back double basket at an estate sale last summer and it was made for this bike!! so this year all the wire baskets will be planted. I have to be patient in planting as last spring we lost several flats of flowers and veggies I planted too early in may and BAM!! DoubLE BAMO!! we got snow in may!!! lost em all ,so I promised myself NO early planting this year!! LOL at least I can plant in the greenhouse though!! LOL

Hubby found this old horse drawn plow at an estate sale too and so here she is in my little garden next to my greenhouse.

One of the first cosmos flats to bloom!! LOVE these guys and they grow and spread each summer!! Last summer my plants were huge at almost 5 feet tall and bushy!!

Some of the tomatoes coming along nicely. Purple cherokee heirlooms, orange sunburst heirlooms.

2 of the blue lobelia plants!! GORGEOUS!!

a few of the girls came out to visit a customer this afternoon. You just have to say "COME HERE GIRLS or OH GIRLS" and they come a runnin on over!!

A few goodies for sale in the farmstand. The stones are made by a very dear friend and are all natural HYPERTOOFA spelling may not be right?? anyway there are pondscapes with a hole in them for a fountain and also deep ones for butterfly or bird baths. The best thing is they were out all winter and they do not freeze and crack on you. They expand with the weather.

Front of farmstand gettin ready for another season!!

Stormin Weekend!!

OUR EGGS FROM THE WEEKEND!!

Hey Everyone!! GOSH what a weekend!! Yesterday started out beautiful but by mid afternoon it started gettin really dark and then big ol rain drops started and that was it! windy, rainy, downpouring, lightin, thunderin well into the night!! and then around 5pm last night!! BAM!!!!!!!!! we went black!!power out!! yuk so hubby and I ran to the grocery store and grabbed something to eat and when we got back home round 10pm it was back on!! YEAH!! but today it is rainin and dark and gloomy outside. BUT>>>>>>>>>>> april showers bring may flowers so I say rain rain RAIN RAIN!! LOL. it will be good for the morel mushrooms and also the asparagus crop. My lilac trees have open green leaves and the grass looks a shade of such beautiful green I forgot how pretty green is!! My hyacinths are up and blooming and oh the smell when you walk past them is breathtakin!! daffodils in full bloom and also my climatis plants I see are starting to emerge on their trellis. YEAH!! LOVE LOVE LOVE SPRINGTIME!!

We arent doin too much today, probably since it is rainy I will go up to the shop and work on replacin our counter top, hubby has work on one of our tractors to do to get her ready for tillin up the gardens.

And we have more chickies!! 6 more brown guys hatched and hopefully they are hens!!well actual term is pullets. I am goin to our feed store tomorrow to pick up some Brown Islas I ordered they lay big ol jumbo brown eggs and are suppossed to be very personable and friendly. DONT need any more ANGRY hens round here!! I do have to nip a problem in the butt asap though. We have an egg breaker amongst the gals!! YEPPER we do and when I find out who it is LOOK OUT!!! chicky heads are gonna roll!!LOL right! well someone out there is breaking most of our green/blue eggs and some brown so they are NOT to be considered prejudice. Maybe they are tellin me they need some extra oyster shell in their layin mash?? Will have to ask the feed store.

I will be all about the bakin soon so will be sure to take my camera to the bakery with me for some yummy shots.

Until tomorrow hope yall have a blessed sunday.

My greenhouse

OH i am so excited hubby and i have been building a little greenhouse to start out gardens. We opted not to do a traditional looking rounded one but a built one that will fit in with our farm, old lookin style. This is a 10x10 one to start out with hubby is goin to build door tonight after work and then we can make shelves for the flats to lay on. I cannot wait to put all my already started plants in and to work in there puttin in more seeds which i have to go pick up at the mill today. It is goin to be near 80 degrees today which is really not normal for this time in year in mi but i will take it!! LOL~!~ Well for some reason i cannot get the screen to come up to upload a pic so will try that later tonight.
This is such a glorious time of year the lilacs are begining to show colors on the tips and the trees are close to opening. AND we should be pickin asparagus in the next 10? days or so it is gettin big!! YEAH love that first cuttin, we grill it and it is sooooooooooo yummy!!
Here is my recipe for grilling it

I like to soak a pound or so in a long tupperware type container in an italian dressing overnight. We bought this super pan a couple of years ago that resembles a wok, it is big and shallow and round with all holes in bottom. So the asparagus spears lay in it perfectly, then just put grill on med for 20 min. watch close not to burn we flip the spears often when done i lay them on a pretty platter and sprinkle with parmesan cheese and ENJOY!! This year we want to make pickeled asparagus to sell at market too.
Some other uses we like, pickeled asparagus is wonderful to put on a hot dog, or burger, to add to salads cut up, add to an omelet or just as an appetizer wrapped with a thin slice of smoked ham. OH i am gettin hungry!!
Have a blessed day.
