Happy happy monday yall!!   Another start of a whole new week! and I cant believe it is April at that!

I was up early this am and had a burst of creative flow so made another card.   A happy birthday card, which will be for sale too!!  This one is a large green card and features My Minds Eye papers that I recently bought.  Again I LOVE LOVE LOVE this lost and found series of vintagey feelin papers.   I also used a couple more pieces of the pearl flourish I took apart for a card last week.  Love this stuff too!! 
I used one of my Stampin Up stamps and added a pretty sparkly butterfly to the corner.  This card is $4.50 plus travel expenses.   I love the flower cluster, I took apart some silk flowers I had layin in my studio to make this and added some distressed paper leaves.  I am pleased with the shabby feel of this card.

I am off to go to the kitchen and work on some cookie dough for market this week.  Have a wonderful monday!!  the sun is coming out and I think it is really gonnna get pretty nice out this afternoon!!  It was only in the 30s earlier but feels warmer already! WOO HOO!!

CR84FN challenge card3/30/11

HEY YALL!!  my goodness it has been a hectic week, gettin ready for winter markets and well just tryin to get things cleaned up and organized for planting time.  We have to replace all the plastic around our greenhouse very soon like this weekend soon!! The winter winds just trashed it and shredded every piece on it.
It is a new week which means a new color challenge too!!  and these colors are so nice and vibrant and fun!!
GARNET, CHARTRUESE, and CREAM!!
While my mom and I were at hobby lobby yesterday buying some prom goodies for the shop I also purchased some great and I mean GREAT looking papers by of cource my favo MY MINDS EYE!! the line is called lost and found and I bought every one, well 2 of each kind anyway I could have gone "chick wild" and bought them all for sure!! 

They have a very nice vintage feel and look and oh they are just wayyyyyyy too me!!  LOL I will have some extra time this weekend now that the Glenn Winter market on saturdays is over so that means CREATE time!!!   YEE HAW!!  makes me happy happy!!

I had a bunch of asst color mulberry paper flowers that looked great layered on this card.   and as yall know I adore polka dots!!    The green card base is by MARTHA STEWART, and then I added the garnet colored cardstock to the back of my patterend paper, this is one of the sheets I loved called vintage princess. 

The numbered sheet is by MY MINDS EYE one of the ones I just love!!  and then the pearl flourish was new I cut it up and added this piece and then have a page in mind for the other part of it.  Love those colors too.

So this week it was a Happy Birthday card.

I am off to the kitchen to get cookies, breads and some cakes made today!! busy bakin day planned.

How to make a grungy bird

Alot of you have asked about my grungy cut outs so thought I would post this again it was quite awhile ago when I first posted them.    Starting out with chipboard, you can recycle things like the cereal boxes  using  the inside, the backs of paper work great, or  insides of mail envelopes and pop boxes work great too.   Draw your design on chipboard and cut out.

I put a couple of coats of acryllic paint on each piece, this bird is blue with light blue mixed.

Next pick your favo rubber stamp and stamp on the pieces, I used TIM HOLTZ distressing ink in black for this part. 

Since this is a thank you card I used my stampin up thanks word definition stamp.

Next I used  of my COLORBOX fluid chalk, in chestnut color use a sponge makeup brush I dry brushed the chalk around edges.  This stuff is also gret to use with your stamps to me it gives a nice rustic time worn appearance to your creations.   When you pick up paint on your brush wipe it off or wipe it on paper towel like you do when stenciling, that way you dont get too much of it on your piece. 

  Here's the bird aged, now I also like to take a very dry brush and just tip the edges around pieces with black paint for a great pop!!

Next I just used the tip of a fine liner paint brush for the eye.   A snap piece from my clothes makin days came in handy for a nice embellishment on the wing.  Attached using some E 6000 glue. 

Now here is the base of the card.  An old book page is ripped around the edges and also dry brushed with my chestnut colored COLORBOX fluid chalk.     And the backround paper edges are done in the same manner. 

So here is the completed card!! A bit of ribbon, a strip of pattered paper, a chipboard heart and the stamped sentiment!! DONE!!

Use your imagination you can alter chipboard with just about any and everything!!   HAVE fun and remember there is no right or wrong way  just YOUR CREATIVE WAY!!

sketch 11 and a sneak peek!

Jan 11.  First and foremost I want to wish my great FATHER IN LAW A HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TODAY!!  goodness how many people have the date  1/11/11??   Happy Bday Pops!! LOVE YA!!

And another sketch lo done today for the sketchathon over at scrap-friendzy!!

ANDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD a little sneak peek of a project I am workin on for a swap!! BUT SHHHHHHHHHHH I dont want to give too much away, it is for a handmade valentines swap!!

Lyra is such a little doll dancin around in her new xmas skirt!!  I played into the polka dots on her skirt with the red polka dot pp and the ribbon.

I hope you dance is the title on this lo.  The journaling is the first first of the song and chorus.  I love that song by Leann Wolmak.

So that is it for today.  It is snowin and so pretty!! I filled my birdfeeders again!! they are being little pigs but that is ok I love lookin out the kitchen windows and seein them.  They are like chickens so busy all the time.

The girls are out in the pen and not happy at all!! I threw out a bunch of scratch for them to pick thru but ya know they just arent happy unless they are in the dirt scratchin and chasin bugs.  Sorry girls!!  Spring will be upon us before we know it!  I just came in from walkin out to get the mail and oh it is so peaceful and serene I love winter days!!  but only if it is snowin!!****  ****  **** **** **** ** ** *** * * * *

This card is made for CR84FN8 also using their color challenge of 

GREEN AQUA  YELLOW and LAVENDER

Here is the green that the leaves are cut from. 

The yellow gingham is what I used for the layers of flowers.   Bought from HOBBY LOBBY by The Paper Studio.  I love the transformation the paper makes after doing all the steps to distress it.  Distressing ink by TIM HOLTZ and RANGER products.

So this was #9 in the challenge over at SCRAPFRIENZY and what fun this has been so far.  I am behind though and have to finish up sketch #8 so will post that later today.

The sun is shining out, so pretty, it was 6 degrees this am and now it is up to 32 so that is about what we are used to.  Lots of snow and sun is a good thing!

More monday projects

Ok here is another of my altered wood hearts.  This one has the word love down the side and is in the sagey green colors.  I am lovin these altered chipboard flowers!!! TOO CUTE!! they are so much fun to do.  And the layering really makes them pop off the project so nice.

Now for my own altered weekly order planner!! THIS is so so so SO ME!! I am lovin it and I can see this takin me awhile to complete.  I got the front done and one page inside!! I am a lover of all shades of pink and decided to lean towards them on this project with touches of sage and blue, and an occassional brown!!  In making this I used 2 pkgs of found already pretty file folders, cut them in 1/2 and then used my old labeler, u remember the kind, u turned the knob to the letter and then pressed the handle together, I was a kid when those things were popular.  AND we didnt have fancy pants keypad ones!! LOL anyway I also am proud of the "being green movement" and in doin this I used recycled items on this too!! The backround is a piece of cardboard that was in a photo frame, I cut a piece of it and painted it and aged it then added 2 bigger snaps on the end and tied some recycled pink bakers twine aournd them.  The flowers are made from the backs of notepads and painted, sanded, stamped and distressed.  Also the emphemera on here has been laying in a drawer for so long I thought it was time to put it to a good home.  So love the front!!  This is thurdays front all altered up.  I added my flower then some ephemera again laying in a drawer, the double heart charm was some we had left over from our weddin a few years ago, they were tied onto the flowers on tables at our  reception.  I love love LOVE flourishes so stamped a couple on here with my wonderful super great wet chalk stamp pad.  

That's all I got done early this am, I had to take my mom to the hospital for a outpatient procedure so we were there quite awhle, then had to pick up our first batch of babies!! YEAH we got little "girls" 7 auracauna chickies, 6 grey pymouth rocks, 5 barred rocks and AND 2 BRONZE TURKEYS!! couldnt find them anywhere so was so excited to get a couple!!  Hopefully they are a pair! and not 2 boys!!  I do have Moe who is a white palm turk so it would be nice to have a girlfriend for him too!!  They are peepin away out in the henhouse safe and sound in the brooder!!  TOO cute I will take some pics of them tomorrow.    I have to go to the kitchen in the am am work on some cookies for an order and make bagel dough! YEAH gonna try some apricot almond bagels this week and also some cherry almond maybe!!??? how good do they sound toasted and smothered in cream cheese!!

OH YEAH!!  LOL comin from the south we love everything "smothered and covered"  LOL too yummy!!
